How to Make Special Fried Rice


Fried rice is very popular food in South East Asia and certain part of South East Africa. The idea of fried rice came from Chinese who did not like to eat previous day rice leftover or to throw it. By mixed the rice with some ingredients, the fried rice was created.In Indonesia or Malaysia fried rice named as Nasi Goreng and mostly Indonesian eat it for breakfast. Fried rice can be combined with many ingredients or additional items. Usually Indonesian serves the dish with fried eggs, fried chicken, squids or shrimps. There are some ingredients that made Indonesian fried rice very special such as terasi (condiment made from pounded and fermented shrimp or small fish), salted fish, kerupuk (chips made of flour flavored with fish, shrimp or vegetables) and petai (tree that produces beans with pungent odor, widely eaten raw or cooked).
Fried rice normally serves with tomatoes, cucumbers, pickle onions and lettuce. To cook fried rice is simple and can be modified as we want.



Ingredients
· For cooking rice
· Uncooked rice 1 cups
· Water 2 3 cups
· For frying rice
· Onion 2, thinly sliced
· Garlic gloves 5, thinly sliced
· Red chili 2 to 3, slit lengthwise
· Celery 1 to 2, sliced
· Soy sauce 2 teaspoons
· Salt approximately 1 to 2 teaspoons
· Olive oil 2 tablespoons
· For garnishing
· Cucumber 1, thinly sliced
· Tomatoes 2 medium, thinly sliced
· Fried egg
· Kerupuk (Cracker or chips)
· Lettuces

Procedure:
1.Cook uncooked rice and water in rice cooker, fluff the rice with fork to separate the kernels. Keep it warm.
2.Heat olive oil in frying pan. Add onion, garlic and red chili. Fry until onion and garlic become brown
3.Turn the heat into low flame and add the rice
4.Add salt, soy sauce and celery. Stir the rice gently until all ingredients are mixed
5.Keep on low flame for 3 5 minutes
6.Turn off the heat and place the fried rice in plain plate
7.Garnish with cucumbers, tomatoes, fried eggs. Lettuces and kerupuk
8.Fried rice ready to serve
To cook fried rice is fun because it can be combined with additional items and ingredients. Maybe today you cook it with fried egg but tomorrow with sausage. The day after you may try with shrimps or fried chicken. So, be creative when you cook it!
